Sometimes it’s the simple things that knock your socks off. Like the colors of this outfit. We love Albena’s combination of blue jeans, mustard yellow sweater and brownish-red hat, framed by a coat and shoes in beige. Sober colors that pop when working as a team. We met the mother of a six-month-old son on Dresdner Straße in Berlin Kreuzberg, where she told us that she is obsessing about furnishing her apartment these days. When it comes to her son, the native Bulgarian, who [...]
Hair and shoes light each other up – coincidence? Or is everything glowing because Sandra is so happy to be back in Berlin? Living in Frankfurt, the flight attendant misses the frequent trips to the capital since she gave birth to her son three and a half months ago. Wrapped up warm in a down jacket she surely enjoyed her tour through Kreuzberg – especially the stroll over the market at Maybachufer, where she usually buys her warm socks.
As a stylish mom I cannot live without…? Beautiful shoes Favorite spot with kids? At the baby swimming [...]
The military look is just perfect for people like Sandra, who are able to juggle two jobs – especially when it is interpreted in such a luxurious way: Sandra’s parka with this fur collar is our object of desire. And the jeans add just the right color to it. Before she became mom of a son of today nine months old she was a PR manager at day and a DJ at night. She is missing how balanced she felt with these two jobs and is looking forward to start working again. We met Sandra at Paul-Lincke-Ufer in Kreuzberg [...]
Dressed in black – that’s how we met Magda. And with a wonderful hairdo like this one black really is the only option anyway: Such a work of art deserves undivided attention. When it comes to hair no one is able to hold a candle to Magda: the mother of two children owns the hair salon Kaiserschnitt in Wühlischstraße in Friedrichshain. Magda’s daughter is seven years old, her son is three, and Magda herself is an ageless rockabilly. Needless to say: one with perfectly glossy lips and nails.
Fatima’s outfit is casual, sexy and cuddly. With the mix of pastel-colored items the artist and designer appears to be so tender, that we cannot quite imagine the loud and bright colors she is experimenting with at the moment. The mom of two sons (three and four and a half years old) is creating a T-Shirt collection for kids called Opoku-Kid. The line is momentarily in production and will be launched in the USA soon. “They are more open overseas, and my collection is going to be very colorful and loud”, Fatima says. [...]
There was some prancing, screeching, giggling and romping going on around Sybille at the Paul-Lincke-Ufer in Kreuzberg – it took a while for the whole baggage to stand still for the photo. The Swiss however was all laid-back. No wonder, when you walk through life with cool boots like these! Anyway, she is used to have three men around her: With her husband, Canadian and painter, and the two sons (4 and 7 years old) she lives in Zurich and works as a scientific officer at the Committee International Relations. For her 15th wedding anniversary the family came to visit Sybille’s cousin in [...]
There are times when you just don’t really know what’s missing in your life. And then one autumn day in Kreuzberg you are standing in front of a jumpsuit. The embodiment of coziness while nevertheless elegant. Add the red hair and the color specks of brown, green and beige: Looking at Laura’s style, it is easy to accept the colder days coming. Laura is studying fashion design at the Berlin University of Arts and is wondering how well she will be able to manage her two roles as a mother of a son of eight months [...]
Great cardigan, great skinny jeans, great espadrilles, great look! But what a pity, that it covers up so much of Anda’s skin. Her husband namely had laid a hand on her and among other things inked a “Family”-tattoo on Anda’s décolleté. It’s alright, he knows what he’s doing as he is a professional tattoo artist offering tattoos to go at events like Voodoo Market in Kreuzberg. With their daughter of four and a half years they have been living in Berlin for two years now, and Anda loves the city because it is so family-friendly. In spite of expatriating herself, the native American [...]
Certainly Hanne was very thankful, that we could resist the impulse: When we met the Dane on a chilly afternoon in Kreuzberg, we did not want anything else than to snuggle up under her great shawls. But very professional as we are, we contented ourselves with finding out that Hanne deals with such shawls and supplies shops in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Everyone of them is handpicked: Twice a year she travels to Kashmir in the Himalaya and buys from Tibetan producers: “I just have to touch every shawl myself before I sell it”, she says. Meanwhile [...]
Gorgeous legs, Madame, where can we buy leggings like that for us? Nowhere, because Antje made them herself. Our compliments, they polish this cool look with oversized sweater and flats to a stylish eye-catcher. Antje is a fashion designer and has been selling children’s clothes for a long time on Etsy.com, where she recently started to also work as a seller community coordinator. Since she has become a mom two years ago, she admits that she often feels directed by others. However, she also says, that her kid is the best that ever happened to her. “My daughter makes me smile every day”, [...]
Boots and a striking sweater like this is no doubt one of the coolest ways to hide a baby bump without entirely disappearing. Great style, Arantxa! The Berliner with Basque roots just completed her studies to be a teacher for Spanish and English, she had written her final paper during pregnancy. Also she already has some experience in school teaching: “Being a teacher you get to know yourself in new ways”, she says. Her childbirth is scheduled for the end of October, and then “Baby” will be the only assignment on her timetable, before she will deal with other people’s children as a [...]
Sol has a weakness for beautiful dresses – you kind of could have told, no? A lot of times she even designs them herself and also teaches others how to do it: In Argentina she owns a shop, where she has been giving sewing and embroidery lessons for five years now. Also she employs other teachers for different textile classes. We met Sol with her husband and her daughter of eight months at the Planet Modulor in Kreuzberg. They were in Berlin for the
It takes a lot to kill a real Berliner. Still, the battle for the spots in the kindergartens in Berlin Mitte are just too much of a trial, even for Nadine. We met her and her daughter of ten months at Planet Modulor at Moritzplatz in Berlin Kreuzberg. There she told us, that she is going to follow the call coming from the middle of nowhere: She will move to Kleinmachnow in Brandenburg, far away from the kindergarten-madness. She is not going to be a has-been though, since Nadine will return to her job as a film production assistant in January. Until then [...]
Doesn’t Jaqee look quite kokoo? Kokoo for her is the phenomenon that accompanies her wherever she goes, an attitude of life of a young mother, who has always been travelling around and doesn’t really want to arrive anywhere, ever. Kokoo is a mix of seriousness and irony, sarcasm and fun, and “Kokoo Girl” is also the title of her latest Album. We met Jaqee with her daughter of eight months and her crazily stunning and relaxed outfit in front of the children’s second hand shop in Kreuzberg. [...]
Proudly presenting: a new Kreuzberger, as fresh as the morning dew. Just three weeks ago Andrea moved here from Schöneberg. The Australian-born is a composer for folk-pop and currently working on a children’s CD, that will certainly not only be appreciated by her son of nine months. You will find Andrea’s audio samples on Myspace under her name Andrea McEwan.
As a stylish mom I cannot live without…? Touche Éclat, THE concealer by Yves Saint Laurent Favorite spot with kids? Petting zoo at Görlitzer Park Favorite spot without kids? Restaurant
With her two-year-old daughter, her husband and this fantastic hat Miki strolled down the streets of Berlin. And the hat doesn’t just look one-of-a-kind, but is indeed unique: Miki got it at a design fair in Marais, a district in Paris. There she lives and works as a florist. Sure, right? Just look at that skirt!
As a stylish mom I cannot live without…? Time for myself! Every week I have one whole day just for myself, a nanny is taking care of my daughter during that time. It was my husband’s idea. Great, isn’t he? Favorite spot with [...]
We met Magdalena from the Czech Republic with her husband and her son in Kreuzberg. The trio wants to discover Berlin for some days. A casual silk printed dress dress and a summer hat are exactly the right outfit for that. But the appearance is deceptive: Magdalena is not at all as relaxed as her look. She is worrying that she will not be able to finish her doctoral thesis in Media Sciences for the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague in time. Also when it comes to family life, Magdalena would love the time to just stand still for [...]
Grün, ja, grün sind alle meine Kleider – Green, oh, green are all of my clothes! Probably Benoite from France has never heard of that German folk song before. But she knows a lot of other stuff to sing: She is an opera singer, and soon she will establish herself as a singing teacher for pregnant women in prenatal class. We met her with her almost three-year-old son in Kreuzberg, where she teaches – each tuesday and saturday 8.45-9.45 am – Yoga classes on the deck of the ship “Van Loon” at Urbanhafen. [...]
Kajana popped up in front of our lens in Kreuzberg, and disappeared just as quickly. She was about to leave for her first day at a new job. “Do you know a day-care-center with an open spot for a One-year-old by any chance?”, she asked, hurrying away. Cloud-cuckoo-land? Well, Kajana wouldn’t be the first to find day-care for a child via Hauptstadtmutti. So she can just go to work as relaxed as her business look of blouse, jeans and oversized bag.

Olga had just been defeated when we met her in front of a Second-Hand-Shop for children in Berlin Kreuzberg: Someone had just snatched away a small table for a children’s kitchen out from under her nose. It was supposed to be a gift for her daughter of 16 months. However, when it comes to style, the victory is surely hers – we love how Olga combines the colors of shoes and tights. The press officer is currently on maternity leave, keeps an eye though on sufficient time for herself: Olga cares a lot about her training to become [...]
